Patriots Australia Inc is a motorcycle club for regular, reserve and ex-serving members of the Australian defence forces Navy, Army and Air Force
Patriots Australia Purpose:
Five serving members of the Royal Australian Navy started the club in 1993. These people considered that there was a need for military personnel with a common love of motorcycles, to have a contact point wherever they were posted. A place where they would be accepted, given accommodation and also share their passion for motorcycling.
From these few original members The Club has grown to the stage where most states in Australia have a Chapter, a Sub-Chapter, or both.
There are now Chapters in New Zealand. These Chapters run along the same lines and with the same purpose: that of providing a welcome to fellow military or ex-military motorcyclists.
We also have Patriot friends in both the United Kingdom and the United States of America who provide the same welcome to members worldwide. We have Patriot friends in both the United Kingdom and United States who also provide the same welcome to members worldwide and we have a honorary member in Wyoming, USA.
Each year we hold an annual general meeting in a different state, so that we can meet and discuss about the club and also meet fellow patriots from around Australia and New Zealand wide.
The Australian and New Zealand chapters are both run in strict accordance within the Department of Defence guidelines. We do not allow drugs or violence and we believe the non-sexist policy promoted by the Department of Defence.
We are a family oriented club and as such invite serving and ex-serving members to happily bring along their families to our functions.
Ethos
The Australian and New Zealand Chapters both run in strict accordance with the Defence Department guidelines. We do not tolerate drugs, violence or theft. We believe in the non-sexist policy promoted by the Defence Department.
We are a family oriented Club and as such invite serving and ex-serving members to happily bring along their families to our functions. Within the Club we have ex Korea, Malaya / Borneo, Vietnam, Somalia, Gulf and Timor Veterans, but this is not a prerequisite for membership.
Full membership is open to all male and female serving and ex-serving military personnel, and to others who have a direct bond with the Military as Supporters. Full membership is granted to persons who have served or are serving in the military (this includes reserve service). They must provide written proof of such service and have a clear criminal record.
Full members must also be in possession of a roadworthy, registered motorcycle of any make and of 250cc or above !
Aim
Our aim is to make all motorcycle loving service personnel welcome in their new posting. Supporters are serving or ex-serving who do not ride or are family of full members.
We ask our members to wear any decoration they have been awarded. This is to show the places that members have served and won recognition for. Most of our members wear their badges of their unit or trade. This provides a pictorial resume of that person's service. It also allows like members to have a common talking point.
NO person is permitted to wear any decoration, award, badge or insignia unless they have been awarded such a decoration, or served in the unit at the rank that the insignia denotes. The penalty for such an offence is dismissal from our Club. Our members have worked too hard to gain such awards and insignia to allow abuses.
We are fiercely loyal to our Flag and Country, this is 'WHY' we served !
We try to uphold the traditions of the Anzac and all that it stands for, some of our Chapters have the privilege of meeting at their local R.S.L. clubs where we are accepted as friends. Some Chapters have also been permitted to hold their meetings within bases, this is why we do our best to try and maintain a close link with the Defence Department.
We are active in the local communities. We also socialize with any other Club that returns the same courtesy and respect that we show them!
The Badge
Motorcycles and Military service are our common focus. Our ‘Badge' is to denote our love of the three services and those who died fighting for our country. We do 'NOT' wear a ‘back patch'; we are purely an organization that loves motorcycles, and enjoys the camaraderie of other service personnel.
We are not a paramilitary organization, we have no political leanings, we are the “Patriots” we have served and are serving.
Our ‘Badge' shows the three services in our own particular style, the skull is for the members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The colours denote;
